Cosabella’s artist spotlight for the month of October features UK-based artist: Sonia Hensler. Her work is often centered on her love of Victorian fashion, design, and architecture – making for a wonderful Halloween edition of our Artist Spotlight. The Victorian aesthetic manages to combine unique, British elegance with a dark, sometimes challenging, gothic flair. There is a playful balance at work in this period where whimsy vies with formality, creating an unlikely juxtaposition that undoubtedly informs and enriches her work as an illustrator.
Sonia has worked for TopShop, The Wall Street Journal, Loewe (LVMH), Reem Acra, Coco de Mer, The Fold London, DAKS London, Bionda Castana, Wendy Rowe, and has had her artwork featured in a number of publications including Harper’s Bazaar.
Excited by her favorite Cosabella garments, Sonia shares why she loves Cosabella and how our lingerie inspired her.
“To me, Cosabella is: sexy & provocative, enticing & playful, vibrant & distinctive but – as well as all these exciting qualities – many of their items are still practical and comfortable enough for everyday wear.”
“For the usual, I would probably plump for some of their fantastically functional bralettes which are soft, snug and delicate. For sexy evenings I grab my push-up bra and possibly a pair of naughty hot pants to spice things up.”
“When it comes to the serious business of sleeping, it’s a Montmartre Camisole or, in the summer, just a pair of Corrine Lowrider hot pants, both of which are delightfully simple and feminine. I must give a mention to the Ombre Collection which boast a set of designs like no other I’ve seen – great colors!”
